Type Locality and Naming

Karakorum. Chongtashi in Kunlun Mountains, Pamir District, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous region. Named by Jiang Zhongti, 1979, Outline of Cretaceous of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, No4 Tibet Geology Team.

Synonym: maybe Chhongtash Fm (India side of eastern Karakoram, but it is reported to have Permian palynomorphs), Kalakashi Fm (WangNaiwen, 1986); Bagongbulansha Fm


Lithology and Thickness

Dark calcareous sandstone and shale, limestone and Lateritic red conglomerate.
